It has rightly been said by fashion gurus that year 2010 is and will continue to be an interesting and exciting year for fashion. With the end of the global financial crisis and recession trend, an upheaval in the fashion world was seen in the beginning of the year and this is continuing. In all the fashion shows that have taken place so far, a new standard of fashion rise up is seen. The latest trends in women fashion 2010 have been inspired by yesteryear’s classic styles with a dash of sex, skin, colors, embellishments and of course attitude and glamor. 2010 Fashion Colors, Prints and Patterns
There is a mix of soft, delicate styles with sporty look in the Spring/Summer 2010. No doubt, you could trace a touch of past fashion but mixed with modern outlook in this season. The popular colors for the year are neutral shades, sober colors and also other colors like the blues, pinks, browns and surprisingly a color like neon green. An important aspect of women fashion trends in 2010 is that heavy patterns and prints, earthly tones teamed up with bold and outrageous designs are in this year. While the last decade saw the fashion circuit being dominated by tight jeans, the women fashion wear trends in 2010 has seen the emergence of loose pants. So go for a baggy jeans and throw on a loose kurti or tunic this year. Wearing sporting attire is also a trend in 2010. So you can see in the fashion stores, designer jogging suits and fashionable sweat pants. These two trends have clearly shown that fashion 2010 is more focused on comfort, rather than looks.

Hot ladies shorts in bright and vibrant colors have made their way in 2010. Colorful chunky jewelry and accessories and big glasses play a major role in adding glamor to your ensemble. Business suits in the form of blazers and formal trousers are still in, giving importance to masculine gender dresses. This has now been extended to long length blazers with leggings or shorts, with beads and bangles for that feminine look. The knee length capris, showing off a toned calf, is also seen among the younger lot in 2010. It is decent, cool and still looks hot.

Another fashion trend that is seen in 2010 is to be bold and beautiful with some revealing styles. Long, floor length dresses are gone. In fact women are willing to go sleeveless with strong lines to look sexy just by displaying enough cleavage, and a cut at the waist defining the curves rather than being covered by wearing a long dress. The revealing fabric is in fashion.

Fashion accessories trends in 2010 show the emergence of large accessories. Do not hesitate to wear large sized chains, striking studs, over sized chain bags, shimmering bracelets, big pendants, bold cuffs and rings. Stilettos are out this year. The term fashion refers to the style of clothing or wearing hairdos and other accessories according to the prevailing styles and norms. It keeps changing constantly because once people start following a particular trend it tends to get monotonous eventually and thus is changed very frequently every season. Although nothing really drastically modifies in the way people have been draping themselves, some styles repeat themselves from the past while the others are just minor modifications or mix and matches from other existing styles.

In 2010 for urban women the trend would be over-the-knee boots or thigh high boots or as a substitute laddered stocking is clearly the “in thing”. These boots and stockings would only go well with short skirts, so mini skirts are also in trend. Capes and leather clothing also add on to the chique look in women. They had been out of fashion for a long time now. They are back in the scene. And by leather we aren’t just talking about leather jackets but about leather dresses, leather shorts and leather leggings. The female dandy is also another surprise entry in trendsetting clothing of 2010 which includes high collars, ruffles and bow blouses, cropped slim-cut jackets in both a double or single breast, waist coats and tailored vests, fob chains, frock coats and tail coats and high-waisted Jodhpurs. These outfits that are supposed to be more masculine are manipulated and clinched at the waist to give it a feminine touch with a belt.

Chunky knits is also another in thing. Chunky doesn’t have to be all shabby though a little show of skin would give it a stylish feel. As for stockings, go for ripped and torn stockings. It is the female counterpart of ripped jeans. It is both sexy and sporty. Another trend this season would be see through clothing. Now this shouldn’t necessarily give the message “look at me” it could be subtle at the same time give a sexy feel by using delicate fabrics with multiple layerings draped onto the body. One shouldered dresses and tops are back into style. If you do not want to flaunt your legs or cleavage why not flaunt the single shoulder that gives a sensuous overall look. Apart from these military fashion tops and ripped and torn jeans are also hip and happening this season.

2010 fashion trends for men would be dominated this season by denim. By denim we don’t need to just stick to jeans but also sport denim jackets and casual pants as well. Jerseys and sneakers are never out of fashion. It is very urban and very hip hop.

Just as leather is in trend for women it is also true for men. Leather jackets are a must in the wardrobe this season. It is very stylish and sleek. In the casual attire category tracksuits and tank tops rule for men. The most popular t-shirts this season would be the ones with funny sayings on them. Besides, the urban trend, vintage clothing will also rule this season. This includes tight jeans and leather jackets and embroidered clothing.

This season it seems like we are going to have a handful to choose from because the trend is a nice mix match of clothes from different seasons. So go ahead flaunt your style your own way.

Sequins are going to be a big fashion trend this Autumn, but there are many ways that you can wear them dependent on how brave or outgoing you are. During the catwalk shows models flowed down the catwalk with short dresses, power shoulders and sequins everywhere. But it’s not just dresses that will be adorned with sequins – tops will feature heavily, but expect to see sequins on hats (particularly berets), jackets, shoes and handbags. Lingerie doesn’t escape the trend either, with bras and knickers for those special nights out covered in sequins to add a touch of glamour.

But how do you wear them? Well, it depends how brave you are. Outgoing, confident women will be going all out with fully covered short dresses in metallic colours. Choose plain black opaque tights to save you from the cold.

If you do choose sequinned bras, wear a sheer top over to go clubbing. Or how about one of the latest jackets, decorated in sequins to your own desired level. Most shops will give you a choice of jackets festooned or some with perhaps a lapel or side detail. If you are really brave then a pair of glitzy silver leggings will certainly get you noticed.

Those not so confident will be happy with small smatterings of sequins outlining key details. If this is you, think a nice sequinned top and skinny jeans, and for a night out you can add sequinned shoes and/or a sequinned clutch bag. Tops can be found all covered in sequins, or if you’d rather be more subtle then just a simple design on the shoulder will still catch the eye.

No matter what you choose, or however brave you feel, pick up at least one or two items with sequins, enjoy yourself and let some sparkle back into your life.

Bright colors and tailored pieces with a cleaner, more professional look have come into vogue. While flashy jewelry is still worn by some, others have moved away from these sorts of urban fashion trends to protest the materialism that the looks suggest. The designer labels that used to be a must in urban fashion trends are not as important as they used to be, and some of fashion followers even find them a pretentious reminder of days gone by. Instead, urban outfitters are looking for separates that are basic, inexpensive and fit well.

The Rise of Celebrity Wear Many celebrities have jumped on the bandwagon of urban fashion trends by offering their own lines of this clothing. Kimora Lee Simmons came out with the Baby Phat brand that is popular in many specialty boutiques and department stores right now. Russel Simmons introduced Phat Farm, Diddy offers Sean John and Damon Dash and Jay-Z offer Rocawear. This has become a popular urban fashion trend that many youngsters have joined, since they were familiar with the names behind the lines long before the clothing ever came into vogue. However, it isn’t cheap to boast a celebrity name on your clothing tag, so get ready to spend a hefty amount to dress like your favorite stars.

Spring 2010 Fashion Trends – Military Madness

Maybe it’s been all the wars that have been taking the front pages, or the designers going into themes that aren’t related to the tired old concept of luxe fashion. Whatever caused it, the military trend has marched up and down the runway, and will soon likely be invading a boutique near you. This spring, you’ll want to enlist early for this particular program.

Color Command

While it’s not something you think about automatically, the military trend calls for colors from a somewhat restricted palette. No, you don’t have to leave the house dressed head to toe in camo; there’s more to military dress than Rambo. You may, however, have to brush up on your knowledge of the branches of the armed forces.

There will, of course, always be the different shades of green – olive and forest being the hands down favorites – that dominate the military palette. You don’t necessarily have to go green all the way; the Louis Vuitton collection, for example, uses just little bits and pieces of that camo green, but the nod to military is clear because of the details.

Neutrals and drab colors like khaki and brown, meanwhile, are also great alternatives if you don’t want the reference to be too overt. The only problem with drab colors is that you run the risk of looking, well, drab. John Galliano dealt with this by throwing in a few shocks of color into the mix, like schoolgirl pink socks stuffed into Mary Janes.

Even grays can be a reference to military service uniforms, since it’s a popular color in European armed forces. MaxMara and Y-3 used the color to great effect since the tieback to the military was subtle but present.

Style Strategy

Going military means that you’ll be toeing the gender fashion line all the while. It’s not a very big problem, really, so long as it’s a line that you leave uncrossed.

Military style tends to be very structured, very mannish. Balance the butch with more feminine pieces like waist cinching tops and form-fitting tops to accentuate your curves. Throwing in visibly girlish pieces is also very effective, such as what Marc Jacobs did when he put a voluminous skirt of layered tulle under a scarily macho jacket. The result is an appealing juxtaposition of hard and soft elements that’s sure to earn you second looks.

The less-is-more maxim applies to military fashion, especially when you consider that you do want to look tough but remain chic at the same time. Many designers added drape to the equation – Nanette Lepore released a swishy ankle-length piece, with ruching to boot – to give the clothes a more feminine touch. You could also try layering a structured piece like a trench coat over a softer, more delicate draping dress underneath.

Sometimes all you need are the subtle references to military service anyway. Utilitarian touches like multiple oversize pockets on field jackets (which they did at Louis Vuitton) or epaulets with cargo pants (done in MaxMara) can be enough to get you into the trend. Balance and restraint are key to pulling it off well.

One of the best things about this trend is its versatility. You could do it for both ends of the formality spectrum, from a tank top with cargo pants and dog tags to a floor-length gown in olive green. In short, you can comply with the designers’ marching orders in almost any way you could like.
