It’s never really a hard task to decide that you do not like the haircut that you have been spotting for a while and to decide that it is time to change it for something else more stylish. The hard part always comes in trying to find the new perfect haircut for your head and face.

We all know that a bad haircut can really ruin your entire look. The question therefore is how does one go about finding the best new hair style for their look?

The most important thing that you have to do first of all before you decide what kind of haircut to lean with is to take a good look at the shape of your face and ascertain what shape it is.

The whole reason different people have different styles is because they have different shapes to their head and then other factors come in. decide whether it is round, triangular or heart-shaped.

For those who have a round face the best hair cut is normally to have the top with some layers and the sides thinned at the cheekbones. Short hair is not too good looking on a round face.

Those who have a heart shaped face will have more haircuts they can pull off than those who have round faces. The best way is to make the hair around the chin fuller and to make it a bit less around the forehead. The length of your chin is a good length to go with for a heart-shaped face.

For those who have square faces the idea should be to try and kind of minimize the square look. This can be done by parting off the hair to the side.

Those who have triangular faces should always stick to short hair or chin length.

The best thing that can be done is to cut your hair and have a shorter hair style and possible even look at hair colour as this will make people aware of your hair rather than your age!

All in all changing your hairstyle can be a traumatic time, especially if you loved your hair and now have to accept a shorter hairstyle it can be hard to imagine a hairstyle that will suit you but that will be your main challenge when addressing your hair.

With formal hairstyling trends taking a step back from the rigidly crafted styles of yesterday, today’s wedding hair styles are free, natural and a great deal easier to attain than they were a few years ago. But even though this is true, the bridal hair style is probably the most important style that you are going to choose for quite a while so it is best served by a little research and practice before the big day.

On your wedding day, hundreds of eyes will be on you, and your chosen bridal hairstyle can either complete the picture or detract from it. That is why it is so important to choose the perfect formal hairstyle well in advance of the big day so that you and your stylist can get it right and make custom additions to your hair. Nothing is worse than a hastily crafted coif decided upon only minutes before the ceremony.

You can begin your search for the perfect bridal (and bridesmaid) hair styles by browsing through style books that highlight formal updos and popular wedding styles. While looking, keep in mind the style of dress that you have selected and choose hairdos that compliment the style, era and cut of the dress. The same thing goes for your bridesmaids dresses.

Another important thing to consider when choosing bridal hair styles are the styles, lengths and textures of the bridal party’s hair. For example: if every member of the bridal party save one has short hair, selecting a French Twist as your only bridesmaid hairstyle would not be very feasible. But you could do a French Twist on the one member with long hair and select different styles for the rest of the party as long as it doesn’t bother you that everyone is not going to look identical.

When it comes to coordinating the hairstyles for your wedding party, you do not have to choose cookie-cutter styles for each member of the party. Look instead at styles that compliment each member’s personality, facial structure and hair texture. Let your wedding party members have some say in how they would like to wear their hair and set some practical guidelines such as whether or not the bridesmaids’ hair should be pinned up off of the neck or allowed to flow free down the back.

Then, coordinate the individual hair styles by using matching accessories and placing them in similar patterns on each member. These pointers apply for the bridal party only; the bride’s hair style should set the bride apart from the others and be more intricate and beautiful than all other hair styles chosen by members of the wedding party.

Once all hair styles have been chosen, have a practice run where all of the ladies meet at the same salon and allow the stylists that are going to do the wedding party’s hair on the big day have a crack at crafting the intricate wedding hair style that you have chosen. While it may cost you a little bit of money to do this, it will save you a great deal of headache on the big day.

We talked for like 3 hours about it and I learned a lot, so I thought I would share what I learned with everyone else like me who knows nothing about black hair.

About Black Hair
First of all black hair breaks really easy so you have to take really good care of it. It is naturally very wavy, kinky and tangles very easily. It tends to be really dry.

Braids, glues, relaxers and extension are very bad for hair. All of these techniques weaken hair and can cause long term damage. If you pull braids to tight you can cause the hair to break, which in turn can cause a receding hair line. Hot combs can also cause hair loss and damage.

Black Hair Cuts/Styles
So there are a lot of hair styles for black women these days, but generally they all fall under 7 very basic categories.

Afro – for a free natural look
Bob – straightened hair that is layered for a very sheek look
Pull Back – for short hair, add texture to show off wavy hair.
Long Hair – This is a classic that is easy to add curls too.
Ponytail – Easy to do for that on the go woman.
Braids – Very popular, always in style
Dreads – Thick braids, natural look where hair is twisted and knotted into position.

More About Dreads
If you are going to wear dreadlocks please follow these hints to make it easier.

Wash twice a week. If you don’t they will itch and start to smell. Don’t wash too much because they will dry out. Use a shampoo for black hair like PFS Moisture Shampoo, so your hair does not dry out. Rinse and dry well. Keep dreads hydrated in between washes with a leave in conditioner like PFS Strengthening Mist. Use oil treatments to reduce frizz. Never strain them. Once you get the dreads it’s recommended that you do not use harsh chemicals on them.

How to get your best hair style

When you decide that you want a new hair style, you may want to look beyond your hair type and likes/dislikes. Face shape is always an important factor when deciding on a hair style. There are 6 basic face shapes and all others are a combination of 1 or 2 shapes. Hair styles can be designed to accentuate the basic face shapes and bring out different aspects of your facial features. Basic face shapes include heart, round, oval, oblong, square and rectangle.

There is another factor that will greatly affect the way your hair style turns out. It is called body type. There are many different body types out there. For now we will talk about very basic body types–tall and short, and thin/full-figured.

Tall Women: If you are tall (5’7″ and up) you should probably wear your hair long and full. The longer hair will create a sexier effect than shorter hair. If you take a look at all the tall celebrities, you will notice that most of them are wearing their hair in a medium to long length.

Short Women: If you are 5’4″ and under, you are probably better off wearing a shorter hair style. Long hair on a short person creates a very overwhelming effect that makes you look even shorter.

If your height is somewhere between 5′ 4″ and 5’7″ you can probably get away with either a short or long hair style.

Thin Women: If you are thin (and the envy of everyone!) you should choose a style that has medium volume. If you wear your hair stick straight, your body will look even thinner. Likewise if you wear your hair with a full volume, you may look heavy.

Full Figured Women: If you have a full figure, you should avoid wearing very short hair or rounded bobs. These styles will accentuate your fullness and make you look even fuller, or disproportionate. Chose a hair style that has a little more length and fullness to it. Balance is the key to creating the perfect hair style.
